My preference is 38 PSI front and 36 PSI rear.... I find that 38/36 works well for more 'spirited' driving but is compliant enough for street use. I use a 12V air compressor to fill my tires (one that plugs into the cigarette lighter) and check my tires about twice a month.
I suppose tire pressure is a matter of too low and you risk wheel damage, too high and you get a headache from the rough ride.
