19"? Lost your mind?
The rubber band tires you would need on 19' wheels would be untenable on the road.
Wheel/tire selection is a critical determinate of your vehicle's handling. If you seek handling the goal is to ensure that the tire contact patch is optimized--nothing else really matters.
This requires careful consideration of the suspension design and setup among other factors. Contrary to conventional wisdom wider/lower profile tires don't always improve vehicle handling. Often they do make it much better but the wrong selection can make it much worse. The contact patch remains essentially the same size as it was before--just wider. The suspension geometry has to be such that it can effectivly use this wider (but shorter) patch under cornering loads. Also the effective increase in the spring rate needs to be considered to ensure the vehicle retains sufficient suspension compliance for the roads on which you drive. That a tire or wheel might fit is not good enough.
Personally, without knowing where and in what sort of conditions you drive, I would say that sticking with an appropriate wheel in a 16" size would be the most reasonable for road use on this car. If you are looking to upgrade the suspension depending on your circumstances a 17" might then deserve some consideration. Just remember it is even easier to mess up a car with the wrong choices when making suspension upgrades than it is when selecting wheel/tire setups.
If you live in the snow belt run good snows (maybe Nokian NRWs) on your existing rims and High Peformance tires on the new ones. They may very will do as much or more for you than the new wheels. Oh and try to avoid new wheels that are heavier than your existing ones
Avoid the punk look--the windows are already pretty dark.
Happy Saabing
