...this morning, as I turned my temp control knob, it snapped off right into my hand. Damn....I had made it a year(got 9-3 in Aug 99) with no problems, I thought I was in the clear. Anyway, I will call my dealer right away. So what is involved in this repair? I think the entire panel has to be replaced, right? What parts of the dash have to come off? It makes me nervous thinking about the dealer taking apart my whole dash and then reassembling. If my dealer tries to tell me that they only need to replace the knob, what should I do? Does anyone have an official document from SAAB, stating the correct fix? I would like to bring this to the dealer in the event that they try to simply replace the knob.
-Also, why is this climate control assembly so crappy???!!! I mean everyone complains that GM is ruining SAAB. One thing SAAB could have borrowed from GM is a manual climate control system. My friend had a rental Pontiac Sunfire with much better knobs!!! Why does SAAB still use an ancient cable actuated system? I've been in Escorts, Sunfires, Civics, etc.. all with better systems that don't feel like they are about to break everytime you turn them. Do the NG900's and C900's have these problems too?
-I also have another problem that I will ask the dealer to address.. when I raise my passenger side window, it creaks as it seals shut. Then it creaks over bumps. If I push on it a few times it creaks, but then it stops and is fine until I open and close it again.Any ideas?
Thanks a lot guys ...BTW, I still love my SAAB.
