Actually, with the new bulletin boards being run off a SQL database, creating and administering a new bulletin board has become a total breeze, unlike with the old system. However, I think new bb's should be added only when it truly warrants it. One of my criteria is that it will have solid traffic (nothing kills a bb faster than low traffic - what happens is that people stop checking in because there's very little new traffic - and then there's even less new traffic - and then more people stop checking in - etc etc etc). Once there was just one bb here. When the traffic was too hard to keep up with, we split into model specific bb's. The 900 bb was for all 900's. When that traffic became too much to keep up with, we split it into NG900 and Classic 900. That means there are something like 13 years worth of Saab 900's being discussed on one board and 7 years of Saab 900's being discussed on the other. The 9000, 9-5 split was a stretch as it was. My other criteria is significant model change. The change between Classic 900 and NG900 is obvious. If this new 9-3 (you can use NG once the 9-3 has been out for at least 7 years) is truly an obvious model change (obvious in that it doesn't require any discussion) then we'll create a new BB once traffic ramps up. If Saab were to call it something other than "9-3", then I'd also have to consider that.
Hope that helps to explain how the current bulletin boards came to be...
-Scott
