I don't think it's a matter of being able to afford the service. I do my own service and I make much more money than the average person. Jonathan's post seemed like the typical BMW owner invaded the BB using his ID. I like to learn more details about my car by doing the simple work on my cars. It relaxes me and I am interested in that kind of stuff. The plus side is, I don't have to drop $110 at the dealer to do what I can do for $30 and I'll probably do a more thorough job. There are a lot of us who like to look under the hoods of cars. Besides, if there is a recall, SAAB is required to inform you of it, so there's no legal problems there. As long as you do a complete service and document your work, SAABUSA cannot deny you warranty work. They have to prove, it was your work that caused the problem and not their build quality.
