Very proud of my 9-3 today...

I was driving about 50 mph (normal speed for that road), when a Mustang 5.0 conv. comes right up behind me 2 inches from my rear bumper. I remember it being next to me at a light a few miles back, and I saw him look my car over as I had just washed/detailed it. He then tries to pass me on the right. Well, I gave it some gas, and he could not pass. I then heard him downshift, along with that 5.0 growl, and my passenger noticed that his front end went up a bit, like he was really trying. So, I gave it about 3/4 throttle (my auto did not downshift). I slowly pulled away from him until about 85, when I decided to hit the brakes. After that, he did not pass me, apparenlty embarrassed. My question is, is a 9-3 auto faster than a 5.0 mustang from 50-85? This was the previous generation Mustang. Even if he was not trying his best (hey, neither was I) I probably at least surprised him a bit :)
Also, I rarely do things like this, but when I do, afterwards I feel a little guilty, like I being hard on the car. Do any of you ever feel that way??
Alex
