Check the site http://members.nbci.com/minimopar/oilfilterstudy.html for personal but quite interesting study. Paper element is not necessarily a bad thing, and AC Delco seems very good for the money. My personal experience using them for OG900 was good. Its blue color let Saabers feel right at home too.

I bought $5.25 OEM filter for my first filter change immediately following my purchase of '99 9-3 w/ 11,000 miles (it had a yellow Penzoil filter) last month, and will compare with PF53 next time to see if any difference except price. They may be identical, but I wonder if OEM products go through better quality control, which may worth a buck or two for peace of mind.

$10 for an oil filter sounds little too much to me (my money is in Mobile 1 10w-30), but may worth extra if you stick with recommended oil/ filter change at every 10,000 miles. I'm in Chicagoland, and planning to change every 5,000 miles, or twice a year before summer/ winter so longevity is not the most importance.
