I have a 1996 900SE with around 128K miles on it. I loved this car but last week broke the camels back as they say and I'm considering a change back to my old trusty Nissan Maxima for my next car. Last week the driveshaft assebly died and its in the shop. On my way home from the shop I was going through in my mind what I had done to this car.
3 radio antennas
2 washer pumps (1 under warranty)
2 sets of washer nozzles (1 set under warranty)
1 alternator (under warranty)
1 fuel pump
numerous bulbs (too much to count)(some under warranty)
front ball joints
front lower CV joints
transmission mount
O2 sensor
muffler
front pads 3 times
rear pad 2 times
1 set of front rotors
evaporator housing leak repaired
main computer SID replaced (under warranty)
rear seat belt (under warranty)
new front strut/shock (under warranty)
right front ABS sensor
Those are the only things I can think of, all the reciepts are in the glove box in the car at the shop. I most likely am forgetting something.
After the driveshaft gets repaired i need:
AC to be looked at. Hopefully only needs a recharge.
if not I'm trading it to my local nissan dealer.
Most of the stuff is common but when you get down to it........its costly to keep up. I never realized how much I had spent until my co-workers say....your car is always in the shop........you must spend alot on that thing.....As I said above....the driveshaft was the last straw...I had put up with all the previous stuff without an issue but this repair bill is gong to kill me. In the $2K range and with my luck I'll get it fixed and 3 months down the road the tranny or turbo will go.
The scary part is I still love Saabs for some strage reason and would buy another one but my wife would probably shoot me...You see.....wives are always right in the long run..........
