modify your airbox as well. The cold air inlet tube that comes out of the end of the box is very restrictive. I took mine out and replaced it with a piece of pipe from a leaf blower. Have you thought about an external boost controller? I thought about it over for a year or more and finally took the $35 plunge. (Wasn't worried about the money, but the wear and tear). After reading this board for over a year and peaking in on Dean's posts, I decided that they didn't hurt and bought a dawes boost controller. All I can say is WOW. Best $35 I've ever spent. Dean will tell you to buy a sport exhaust is well....still working on that one though.
What spark plugs are you using? What oil are you using?
