Jeff,
First -- I'm sorry about your late father. Second -- HS is tough enough so why do you give a rat's butt about what a princess uses to haul around her reconstructed nose? Third -- Dr. Laura can help if the Saab BB can't.
Anyway, when I was 17 I inherited a 1968 Plymouth Valiant (Slant-6) from my dead grandmother by way of my sister (who smashed three of four quarter panels AND managed to roll it -- don't ask how) and Kemper insurance who graciously sold the car back to my Dad for 50 bucks after they totalled it. We pounded out the rear quarter panel and roof, replaced both front fenders, and put in a new windshield. I now had my transportation to/from high school and work. And, believe it or not, I was damn glad to have it since 90% of my friends walked or hitchhiked. Even though it looked like a piece of crap the engine was rock solid and it got me to a fair number of late night ice times, to Newport RI for the beach, and to Boston and New Hampshire for fun. And the cheap vinyl seats were great for easy cleanup. So, while this is a whiny I-had-to-walk-ten-miles-through-blizzards-to-get-to-school story that dinosaurs like me tell young guys like you, I had to tell it. Believe me, someone will always drive a better car than you so don't get bent about it.
Finally, if you want her car so bad, ask her out on a date. She just might let you drive it.
