and do it yourself. Maybe not all of the things listed in the book, but it is an excellent way to get a feel for where things are located in your car and how to fix them. I good place to start is with an oil change, now I realize that the quickie places do it for only a little more than what it would cost you to it. But, it gives you a sense of accomplishment and confidence.
Even if you don't EVER work on your car yourself, I would get a Haynes manual and read through it. It shows you how to do weekly checks and troubleshoot problems with your car; which is a very good thing to do, BTW. This helps the service tech./mechanic in fixing your car properly the first time. Plus after reading about what the problem is, you can tell if the people fixing your car are full of SHITE!
