My neighbour damaged the hood of my 2001 9-3 with a sailboat. Important practice pointer: do not park behind sailboats with rudders. I've had the car for 6 weeks. Oh well.... The hood is dented with 2 long scratches.

Body shop A wants CDN 575 to fix it. They use Dupont paint and do a nice job (they fixed both right side doors of my Tahoe when my other neighbour backed into it).

Bodyshop B wants CDN 900 to fix it. They use Sikkens paint and have a brochure about how they fix cars in the European traditions, whatever that means. They do a nice job too, having fixed the hood of my Tahoe when it was attacked by a gate in a parking garage. They did leave a piece of crap on it before they painted it, and so there is a bump on one edge.

Bodyshop B wants to re-finish the tops of the fenders to match the paint on the hood, while Bodyshop A shows this as a judgment item and don't propose to do it unless required for a satisfactory match.

Any thoughts on what I should look for in a bodyshop to get it fixed?

I must say with all the door dings I get from ignorant geeks in parking lots, the numerous rock chips from all the gravel they smear on our roads each winter in this prairie hole, the fact my cars turns dirty white everytime it gets warm in the winter and road salt splashes all over it, and the odd negligent neighbour, I am beginning to think I'm wasting my time thinking about how to get the best job since it'll just be wrecked in 6 months anyway.
