I don't have a 99 9-3 SE, but I can assure you that you will almost definitely find something else you like better on your car than what it came with from the manufacturer. Big considerations are the climate conditions in your area - there is a big difference between living in SoCal and buying all season tires and living in ND and buying all season tires... Personally, I like Tire Rack a lot - I know their site is a bit 'slick marketing' looking, but I think there is good information on there, which I have always found very helpful in making tire buying decisions, the people I've spoken to there are knowledgeable, and nobody can touch their prices. They give pretty much every piece of information you need to know about the tire you are considering, and you can draw your own conclusions from what is there - there is feedback from buyers of almost everything, and you can see what people with cars similar to yours and people who drive in conditions similar to yours thought of the tires. Personally, I don't think Michelins are worth anything like the money they cost - but some people love them. The average Michelins (Energy, MXV4, cheaper Pilots) don't have the greatest grip, but they will last a long time (50-60,000 miles...) The Pilot Sports will give good grip, but won't last as well (30-40,000), and they cost a fortune - figure $800 or so fitted! I had a set of Toyo Proxes FZ4s on a Volvo which I would buy again in a heartbeat, but they don't fit the 15" rims on my SAAB. I will probably replace the Michelins with a set of Yokohama AVS dB, or maybe Bridgestone Potenza RE 950s - BS new tire. Any of those three should be in the $400 range from TireRack.com, if you add fitting - they have approved fitters all over the country.
