Here's a list of all past and present engines from the SaabUSA web site;
2.0-liter Turbocharged DOHC 16-valve inline-4. 185 hp @ 5,500 rpm, 194 lb-ft torque* @ 2,100 rpm (1999 base 3-door, 5-door and convertibles, automatic and manual, and SE automatic)
2.0-liter High Output Turbocharged DOHC 16-valve inline-4. 200 hp @ 5,500 rpm, 209 lb-ft torque @ 2,300-4,600 rpm (1999 SE manual)
2.0-liter High Output Turbocharged DOHC 16-valve inline-4. 205 hp @ 5,500 rpm*, 209 lb-ft torque* @ 2,200-4,800 rpm (2000-2001 SE)
2.3-liter High Output Turbocharged DOHC 16-valve inline-4. 225 hp @ 5,500 rpm, 252 lb-ft torque @ 2,500-4,500 rpm (1999 Viggen)
2.3-liter High Output Turbocharged DOHC 16-valve inline-4. 230 hp @ 5,500 rpm, 258 lb-ft torque @ 2,500-4,500 rpm (2000-2001 Viggen)
I find the horsepower figures particularly interesting and wonder specifically what the differences are between the 185hp, 200hp, and 205hp engines. While elements of this topic have surfaced in the past, I'd love to review what can be done as inexpensively as possible to bring my 1999 SE up from 185 to either 200 or 205 (other than using a K&N and swapping out the exhaust).
TIA
