The breakfast of champions for all, I repeat all, turbo charged Saabs is 92+ octane. Otherwise the trionic system is going to significantly degrade your performance. If that is the case why spend the money for a turbo, etc. This is especially true when the air temperature is very hot and in locals which require oxygenated additives during certain times of the year for polution control reasons. Currently my 99 Viggen runs on 92 octane with octane boost. In Arizona the octane boost overcomes the not so dense 100 degree+ air. In the winter octane boost is not necessary. However I did take a trip to Phoenix several months ago and had to tank up. All their gas has mandated additives this time of year. On the way home I thought the Viggen was running on two cylinders. Performance was that degraded on 92 octane with additives. On my recent trip added octane boost after tank up and Viggen did not miss a beat.
