the wierdest by far was when my best friend ran himself over with my car. Really. Click on the link below for the whole story.
I once barely missed a deer who ran out into traffic (southbound I-87 in the Adirondacks) and literally vaulted my car. I was expecting him to wind up in my hatchback, but he landed right behind me and got off the pavement safely.
Another time, a crow decided to take flight from a concrete highway divider on southbound I-87 near Albany just as I was zipping by at ~75mph. I think it got a single flap of its wings before it hit the windshield/roofline of my car and was transformed into a cloud of black feathers.
Last summer, southbound on the NYS thruway (you guessed it... I-87) near the Catskills, a large deer carcass suddenly appeared between the rear wheels of a 18-wheeler I was following. In heavy, fast traffic I couldn't avoid it. The tractor-trailer obviously had more clearance than my '86 SPG w/lowered suspension- I felt the car "jump" (the suspension unweighted, but the tires didn't leave the ground) and then heard a loud scraping sound and saw lots of sparks. The muffler had been knocked off the center pipe and was grinding on the pavement. Venison jerky, anyone?
