Anything you can catch your fingernail on is probably too deep for this stuff and will require (pre-thinned) touch-up paint applied with the skinny end of a toothpick. OTOH, you can take away a surprising number of those little annoyances with the 3M.

Nicks can tell you a lot by the colour. If they're white inside, you've hit the undercoat. If they're rusty or metallic, you've gone really deep. If they're car-coloured, you may have a chance with the 3M to take some good part of the nick away.

Deal with the other later.

I had a leather bra on my '79 900T and it marked the surface. I'd never have one again. Some recommend the new plastic stick on stuff.

I'd recommend that before you do anything with the paint, which can wait, you get the glass lenses protected. I used the thin film, Stoneguard. Other than discolouring at the edges, it's been fine. I even put it over top of one slightly starred lens.

Love those dark blue cars. Had one myself. Am into black now. This black colour is for anal retentives or hobbyists; people with a lot of time on their hands. It's much the same with dark blue.
