I had a conversation with a friend of mine in the Ford Research Department once. He pointed out that car built in the colder months seemed to have different kind of quality issues, compared to car built in the warmer months.
We know that SAABs are built in a very cold country! And from school we also know that metal contracts and expand when subjected to wildly fluctuating outdoor temperatures. I have been of the opinion for some time that some of the quality problems at SAAB must be related to the temperature of the surrounding area at the time of assembly.
As a matter of fact, I am so convinced of it, that I am having my new 9-3 completely re-assembled by my specialist dealer, before I take delivery of it sometime this month.
When I had my NG900, I noticed similar problems. And since I work in quality assurance, it wasn't hard to get the right tools to inspect the problems.
