getting the HP reasonable on these cars and upping the warranty. The new VR6 will be about 200 hp and the (bumper-to-bumper) warranty is no longer a measly 2 years. I'm still not sure about VW and reliability. Some people seem to have no problems; others have many. One person my friend met had a Jetta that had been into the shop 5 times in the first year. My friend owns a Golf (not a GTI) and he's had several series problems (the heater core went bad after 2 years! If you've never replaced a heater core, I can tell you that they suck to replace). There was the infamous "2cnd gear grind" on both Audi (TT) and Golfs. My mind still isn't made up for VWs other than the Passat, which I think is pretty well made.
