Tune up with Abbott ECU

I have a 00' 9-3 base 20k with an abbott ecu, do I need to change plugs or do any other type of tune up before the normal scheduled change time?
Also I need some advice. My car seems to blow smoke on start up. I think it was doing so before the abbott ecu was installed so I can't blame it, but since the car is under warranty, how do I bring it to the dealer without having them swap out the ECU. By the way, the ECU is under recall and knowing my dealer they'll just change it with out even asking.
