Nothing I have driven comes close to the Hakkepellittas. They wear forever, are hard to find, and are expensive.
Having said that, I like the Michelin Alpins. In Tire Rack's various analyses, Alpins in 1999-2000 nudged out Blizzaks overall but tires change almost every year so it pays to go back into the analysis for this year and see where you get the best bang for the buck matching your specific driving conditions to the tire best suited to them.
My dealer had Gislaveds on special with plain jane steel rims rims but even the dealer's mechanics/parts guys admitted that Gislaveds were a snow-snow tire, less worthy on ice, too gummy for a lot of bare pavement driving, so I was better off with the Alpins for the prevailing ice conditions here in the Prairie -Rockies Foohills area.
Best thing you can do: bite the bullet. Get yourself the full meal deal. Summer tires for summer; winters on plain Jane rims for winter, and the all-important torque wrench. Do changeovers yourself.
In the end, you'll save on the number of rotations you need to do to keep your summers wearing evenly and you'll not be a danger to other users of the highway with all-seasons: tires that don't know what they want to be and are not especially good at anything.
