brake warning light and chime while braking

For the past week every time I brake a little aggressively my handbrake on warning light and the general warning light (triangle with exclamation mark in middle) come on and a chime occurs. It is as if I had forgotten to release my handbrake. When I am on stopped going downhill the lights will stay on. It seems that I must have a loose wire somewhere. Anyone have any ideas where to look? Thanks for any help.
