We had a damaged wheel a few months back: the bead was torn all the way through and hanging off for about 1". Due to rather overtightened nuts, we had to get the breakdown truck out to get the wheel changed (I wasn't willing to drive back up the motorway with a wheel like that).
The breakdown driver directed us to a local wheel refurbisher who did an *excellent* job on repairing the wheel: it looks like new. [But it must be quite an unusual service (at least in the UK), as I couldn't find anyone closer to home who did such refurbishment.]
So if anyone in the UK needs this service, try Pristine Alloy Wheel Refurbishers Ltd, of Woburn Sands, Beds, 01908 282628.
