First, don't forget that Saturn and Saab have the same parent company, so the Saturn dealer may have connections if there's a Saab dealer in the area. (The Saab and Sarurn dealerships are next to each other where I bought).
I don't recall whether warranty goes to 50k miles on the 9-3 base (which is what we have, a convertible). If it goes to 50k, maybe the problem would still be covered by warranty. Either way, I suggest you get a diagnosis, and estimate of cost to repair, of the problem before buying. If you think the car is otherwise a great deal, and are willing to pay yourself something to get the alarm system fixed, the dealer may be able (and hopefully willing) to get the problem fixed at their cost, rather than you having to deal with it - again, hopefully taking advantage of the common parent company. If the owners manual is still in the car, you may be able to determine some additional information about the meaning of the message on the SID display.
In all likelihood, the Saturn dealership is going to have to deal with the problem you've identified - if you've identified it, others are likely to also, and to expect the problem to be fixed. Get the car looked at by a Saab dealer or an independent mechanic, for the alarm and other issues in general.
Otherwise, good luck and best wishes - hope you can get satisified on this issue and enjoy a great car!
