Came home this weekend with our new 2001 9-3 convertible - silver, 5 speed, as part of the deal having CD changer installed tomorrow - my husband will be driving it daily but I told him he had to let me drive it occassionally!!!! :-)
Thanks to those of you who gave me advice earlier this month - it was hard to make the leap but now that we've done it, I feel relieved not be thinking about it anymore! I think we got a good deal and I think the local dealership will treat us right - loaner cars available - didn't try to push us too hard, etc. The only thing that is a bummer is there are no seat heaters in the one we got.
As our plan is to keep the Saab for a long time (my husband was driving a Mazda I bought new in 89 which has been a great car), thinking about buying extended warranty but probably not through Saab directly - any advice???
We were also considering buying a 2001 convertible Viggen from a dealer out of town (New Orleans) - we're going there for a trip so I wondered what was availble - for anyone interested, this was described to me as a "demo" with 3500 miles - steel gray - 5 speed, heated seats - the offer they made was invoice price less the $6000 rebate on 2001 convertibles (at first they claimed this wasn't available) - but, no further discount for the miles on it - we decided to pass and take the non-Viggen locally for invoice less the $6000 plus getting the CD changer, including installation, at a much reduced cost than if you by from Saab's website - anyone interested in the Viggen, let me know and I'll pass on info about who I was talking to.
Another note - I also talked to Brian (brian@saabcenter.com) - he was very helpful and offered to help me find what we wanted if we didn't buy one of the others we were considering.
This board was helpful to read while considering our purchase - hopefully we'll avoid some of the problems others have had!
