Several "depends" factors here. My '99 HOT did not fully "break-in" IMHO until 7,000 miles
My brand new '02 SE Automatic seems somewhat better, but I expect until I get at least 5,000 miles on it it will be green...
I get 24 mpg between city and hwy and only have 1,400 miles on it, live in Michigan and its 20 degrees here today...
I am breaking it in very gently until 2,000 miles, and then I intend to ...
