Hi All,
Just wanted to toss this out before I take action.
We picked up the abovementioned this summer and are very pleased with it. BUT: a couple weeks ago I noticed that the passenger side headlight wiper was flopping lifelessly in addition to having 1/2" to 3/4" in/out play. No external damage I could descern.
We finally got it into the dealer today (they offered NO assistance or sympathy that we'd be without the car for that day. When asked if the work could be done on the weekend, I was curtly told "all those guys do is change oil"). As my wife is the primary driver, the mechanic called her at work to discuss what they found. She volunteered that she'd been involved in a parking lot "nudge" that left what would best be described as an abrasion on the front bumper, on the driver's side. Even tho this came after the floppy wiper, this pretty much sealed our fate regards getting warrantee work done. When the mechanic insisted this "accident" was the cause of the wiper prob she ended the conversation and handed off to me.
I called the mechanic back and had a very civil conversation in which the mech insisted that "these things happen". He went so far as to state that the bumper booboo was on the opposite side of the car to which I asked how does that affect the wiper? His response was that the arm was twisted and showed signs of damage. "These things happen, you can't stand guard over your car all the time". When I picked the car up tonight (we asked to not have the repair done) I, for the life of me, couldn't see where the arm was twisted. The only "twist" I could see was that the arm has a built in "dogleg" which is symmetric with the other side. Unfortunately we didn't get to the car till after closing (we work for a living) so there was no one to address this with.
Right now I'm thinking of taking this to another SAAB dealer I know and trust for a second opinion. Any other thoughts anyone? Anyone heard of these failing?
Thanks,
Chuck
