Yes resale is an issue vs. 325s, but the way out of that is to take advantage of the fabulous new Saab lease on the 9-3. You'll save around $100 a month vs. a 325 and have a much lower buyout at the end of the lease. It's the way Saab gives you the most value on a 9-3. You can get 0% financing or big cash back, but the lease has a bunch of cash back and a 1%ish rate.
Check out the arithmetic. The latest offer here in SoCal is a $29,095 list 9-3 for $299 a month for 36 mos. That requires $1,999 "down" and the buy out is only $13,965. All that totals only $26,728 for a $29,095 car including the finance charges for 36 mos.
Anytime the lease payment on a car approaches 1% of the sticker price with a reasonable amount down, that's real value!
