I've heard a Saab dealership owner say that they only way they can void a warranty two ways: The first is if somebody goes against something specifically stated in the manual. The second is that the dealer has to be able to prove that a problem that develops is a result of the modification. This is very difficult to do. The dealer said one of the only warranty voids he's heard of came from a guy who tuned his Viggen up to around 500hp and sheared a differential in two. The dealer could prove that the same thing has never happened to a Saab without the mods, so they told the guy to take a hike. If it is something routine that regular Saabs (not just modded ones) get, there is practically no way they can prove that the mods messed you up, and therefore your warranty stands. This guy who I heard talk was at Wigwam Saab in Providence, RI. Other dealers may be more finicky, but if you have numerous dealers close (like we do in Boston) there is bound to be at least one who is lenient.
