I use mine quite frequently on long trips, lots of three hour trips on the freeway, especially with a passenger in the car which tends to use up the console cup holder between the seats. We are very careful to use strong insulated plastic coffee cups with a valve on the top which prevents any liquid from getting out if the car hits bumps, leans in turns, etc. Styrofoam and fast food cups are a very big NO NO. I have the Saab auxilliary door cupholders as well, but they are a little harder to use, especially for the driver at night. The center dash, retractible cup holder and its internal mounting frame can be viewed on the Turner's Hill web site, as can the door mounted folding cup holders. The door mounted variety are true Saab parts not sold in this country, but for which there are grooves molded into your 9-3 door pockets. They do not grip cups with their pop out ring, but are a good fit for 12 oz. cans and certain coffee cups. Again, it is a good idea to have dedicated, strong plastic coffee cups with a valve top to prevent leakage on bumps and such. The cupholders set forth at the other web site are essentially the same kind sold to boat owners (and Miata owners)and have a colored covering to match the Saab interior. They may also require one to drill a hole or two in one's Saab, not to mention a pretty heft price. <http://www.turnershillsaab.co.uk/accessories.htm>
This site may still have an avi file of the Saab door holder in action

Watch those bumps!
