The SAAB 2.0l and 2.3l are really great engines, but let's face it, they are a little out dated aside from the sophisticated engine management systems. Yes they are bulletproof, but they are also coarse. GM has a new line of in-line engines coming out that are very advanced and I hope that a SAAB version of these engines make it into SAABs. The 2.2l four (found in the Saturn L series) and the 4.2l six (found in the new Trailblazer/Envoy SUV) are a few examples of the new engines and there is a five cylinder in the works. From personal experience, they are very smooth and everything I've read about them has been positive. I've also read that these engines are meant to be turbocharged....so if they turn out to be bulletproof like some of GMs V8s, then there reall is no problem. Point is, let's see what happens before we discount what GM will do with SAAB. Don't you like what they've done so far?
