imho - you're throwing good money after bad...why upgrade a car that you're planning to return at the end of the lease (assuming you're going to do that)...just my opinion...i'm not a big lease fan..so i purchase my cars.

anyway, to answer your question...i've gotten loaner 2001/2002 93 se's - exhaust sounds quieter than my 99 9-3, so I assume it's the basic exhaust.

also, you're correct in observing that many people on the board focus on suspension upgrades to make up for some of the handling faults of the 9-3...surprisingly, one of the cheapest upgrades that makes a difference (at least to me) is the low flow airfilters - K&N or ITD(??). You'll get faster throttle response and the turbo seems to spool up faster.. Not bad for a $40 investment.
