I've been to the track once with my '00 SE, but haven't done any mods. Here's what I noticed:
1. Inside front tire lifting coming out of corners. Possible fixes: Beefier rear anti-sway bar, new springs.
2. Brake fade. Possible fixes: Front EBC pads and slotted rotors.
What I didn't notice:
1. Lack of tire grip. My 16" stock Michelin Pilot Primacys seemed to do just fine. The tire lifting was the bigger problem. That is, my gut feeling is that the suspension dynamics fail the tires before the tires fail the road. Fix the suspension, then change the wheels/tires.
2. Lack of torque or power. If I spent a lot of time at the track, I'd spend money on suspension upgrades and brakes before a tuned ECU...but I'd do both eventually, I'm sure.
My $0.02,
Tim
