Never leave your car with a mechanic and give them full authority. Always leave them with what you want done and if anything else shows up "upon inspection", have them call you to OK it first of all. Were your front brakes squeaking? If not, then you probably didn't need new pads. Plus $98 dollars for brake pads...did the dealer order them from the Pentagon?
