I think the consensus on the board has been that the auto transmissions in the Saabs have been very reliable. So if that is your concern, I say go ahead. I chose auto because I had too many times that driving a manual was irritating me. Like John A said, Sport and Winter modes are good.
If you are on the fence because you find manuals more fun to drive, then that's a different issue. But the reliability has been good. -JerryC
