The BMW also feels a hell of a lot smoother. I don't think the saab has the refinement of a BMW. The saab takes a little more attention to drive, not much, but a very different driving experience. I do love the seating position of the saab, and I feel like I get more feedback in the saab in difficult conditions. This was true with all of my saabs. The BMW had more shoulder room. When I sit in my saab with another adult, we can end up banging elbows. Footwell is a little cramped in the saab. I don't recall the BMW. BMW was offering full maintenance, including coverage of the brakes. Saab was only offering basic maintenance.

By the way, do you live in the snow. If you see snow, get the saab hands down. I don't live in snow now, but when I lived in snow, my 900's were unbeatable. Great traction, control and feeling.

Truth is, I probably bought my saab for my self image. Part of the reason I get pangs of guilt. I haven't had any problems with any of my saabs, or at least none that I didn't think came with running a car for 100K+ miles.

I love the car, it's unique. And when I step on the gas of my somewhat unassuming car, it is exhilirating. I didn't quite get that feel with the BMW, it was fast, but just felt different. I don't know what all the writers talk about when they mention BMW suspension/feel. I felt somewhat isolated in driving the BMW, at least compared to my saab. BMW may handle better, but I get great response through the suspension and steering as to what my saab is doing. I really don't like the way the trunk lid falls off on the BMW anyway, but the've overcome that with an expensive add on to the back-edge of the trunk.

As I said before, it all depends on what you want. It's a lot of cash, so go back and take both for a test drive, and consider how you use it day-to-day. Are you going to keep this until it dies, or are you a 2 year car person. Check out insurance and maintenance. I don't think you'll go wrong with either car. Just need to honest with what you want.

When I went over this with my wife by the way, she told me to go with the saab. She said the BMW was a girls car.

Admit it, you're an image person as well and that's why your having trouble deciding. Your head says BMW, and your heart says saab. Or, that's only me.

Good Luck.

CA Vig. Out.
