According to the article the new 9-3 will be a true drivers car like the BMW 3 series with the entry-level engline being a 2.0l turbo four based on a downsized 2.2l Opel Ecotec engine with a standard 6 speed gearbox. The top engine in the Aero model - which will feature four wheel drive - will
be the 2.8l V6 seen in the 9-3X pushing out 280bhp mated to a five speed auto box with steering wheel mounted buttons. there will also be a V6 3.0l turbodiesel model which should haul ass! The 9-3 will be introduced in Sep 02 with the Aero comng online about 18months later and a cabriolet in Sep 03. The front of the production 9-3 is just like that of the 9-3X, apparently. There were two heavily disguised pics of the cabriolet and one of a sedan and - as we have been hearing - no hatch although there are wagon, 4x4 SUV and coupe versions to be introduced.
Judging by the pictures, which may or may not be totally accurate, just think of a baby 9-5 with the 9-3X front end. We will have to wait until 13May to see official pics though!
