Does anyone have a recommendation of a good SAAB mechanic in the NW suburbs of the Chicagoland area? I got ripped off on my last visit see below:
The last time I toom my 9-3 in for scheduled maintenenace I explicitly notifyed the service guy I didn't want my oil or filter changed. I am running a synthetic on extended drain intervals. Well I am glad I checked out the car before I paid...there was a new oil filter on and when I checked with the tech. and he said he did a normal oil change.
I went back to the service manager and he said there is nothing he could do. I asked to speak to the dealer manager and he said he would waive the cost of the oil change ($35.00). I mentioned to him that the cost of putting synthetic back into the engine would be over $120 counting "dealer" labor rates. He held firm at the $35 figure. Instead of continued arguing I paid the darn bill with my credit card and immediately called Visa to dispute the charge on fraud from the merchant.
It took a day to get replacement synthetic/engine flush/ and a new filter. This ran me about $70 in parts/fluids and did the oil change myself. I sent the dealer a bill for my time and a markup of the supplies I used and currently waiting for a reply.
I am still waiting to hear back from Visa and the dealer.
