....the Aero was firmly outside my price range at the time and the seats were the old seats, not terribly impressive.
I did test drive an '01 Aero. The 2002 9-5 has vastly improved seats in the Aero edition, plus more power and some nice xenon headlights. Plus it's more refined than the '01 edition.
I have also become more aware of the drawbacks of the Viggen -- not many, just a few. What seemd like a snug fit for me when I test drove it has become a little more like "tight", rather than snug, as I have driven it regularly. The suspension can be really harsh, too, especially for everyday driving (which is what I use it for, some weekend errand-running and mulch-nag hauling in my old '87 900 notwithstanding). I was also disappointed in how I have to move the fronts seats up a little to get the rear seats folded -- fine for most people, but I HAVE to have them all the way back to fit in the car. Ingress/egress is tight for me in the Viggen, too - again, something you barely notice in the initial test drive but which has become more annoying over time.
Don't ge me wrong -- the rush of power in the Viggen is fantastic and I love the size of the trunk and the jewel engine. It's still the best car I've ever owned and I'll still love the car if I resist my current urge to "cheat".
Maybe I'm being impulsive. But there is an argument that buying the Viggen was the impulsive act and now I'm correcting course....
