Viggen Vs Vail Pass

I had a great opportunity to experience the high altitude capabilities of my 2000 Viggen. Driving uphill over Vail pass in Colorado going toward Denver, altitude was over 10,000 feet, and a very steep 6% grade. I slowed to 50 mph for slow traffic and then hammered it as it opened up on a straight section. I left it in 5th cause it was pulling hard, I just let it cook for a few seconds and I was fast approaching triple digits, I slowed to about 80 cause the road gets curvy. I've been in v-8 (camero's, mustangs) that suck wind up there, but the saab was screeming for more, no lack of power. Anyone had a similar experience? I was simply amazed at it's capability at that altitude; Saab 1, mountain 0.
