The ng900's determine the gearing for boost reduction with software. Comparing the engine rpms to the speedo signals.
Shifting into third and spinning the tires rightaway would fool the ecu and you were in low boost and had to shift up then down again to get boost.
The Viggens had/have a switch in the trany for 1st and 2nd to overcome the above issues and 2ng gear boost is stronger than 1st.
I don't know if the other 9-3's have such a switch. The ng900s had one connector for reverse to fire the back-up lights.
If you have a '99 you can use a dawes. If later with a T7 ecu and air mass meter, what you can do with a MBC is very limited.
In any case, a MBC cannot create pressures that will harm a well maintained engine. The ECU will cut the fuel to limit loads. And if you got a modified ECU, the loads are much higher than a MBC can induce. So the engine can handle much higher loads than a MBC alone can generate. And a few folks have MBCs with modified ECUs and their engines are standing up very well at 20PSI or more of boost.
If you have a T7 with trany switchs, start hacking and post your findings.
