It is a trail and error method to adjusting the MBC. Set it too high and you'll hit the fuel cut-off too often. Set it too low and you won't get any power increase...may even decrease power. I have mine set so that it goes about 1/4 into red and it is installed inline with the BPC. This doesn't give me the most power, but it is easier to drive. I had trouble with boost taper when I had it installed bypassing the BPC. Give it a try both ways and see which way works best for you. Remember, the longer the needle stays in the red the more power you'll get. IE what you don't want is for the needle to shoot way into the red and settle down half-way in the yellow. You'd be better off having the needle go slightly into the red and only backing off to the line between yellow and red. That way you have more power through the whole rev range.
Hope this helps and doesn't confuse.
