the bcpr[6|7]es11's leave the factory at 1.1 mm
the nominal Saab gap spec is 1mm which is .039mm
there is also a gap tolerance band of .039 +xxx -xxx
so the gap does not need to be exactly .039
larger gaps from when the gap erodes can run poorly
smaller gaps run well, so if you gap to .035, the gap will erode towards .039
TG will object strongly!
with higher boost pressures, the break down voltage across a gap increases, so often the gaps are reduced for higher pressures
the viggens had (still?) some strange ngk platinum plugs from the factory that did not work well, some regapped, but many remove and installed bcpr's
some found that the smaller gap in the Viggens ran better, but a year later some thought that the power was better with the .039 gap, who knows, you would have to try it
not all ngk platinums are the same, i run bcpr6evx11's, but they are very expensive, if they do not last 4 years its not worthwhile, I gap at .035 and clean/regap once a year, so no savings in effort
95SET, 30 to 31 mpg at 75 mph, 150000 miles, 5W40 Delvac One
