I just bought a 2002 aero two weeks ago so I know this to be true - I made an offer that was (invoice + $100 - rebate). The dealer got the holdback and the $100. They did the deal without issue. Don't let the dealer control the numbers if you know what your end price is. Just think of the rebates as cash from the manufacturer for using their financing deals. The price is always negotiable between invoice (somtimes below if you count holdback) and MSRP. If the dealer wants to think it is off MSRP so be it. Go in and tell him you will pay a certain amount and just calculate as I did (invoice + a dealer profit - the rebate) and tell him that is your offer and thats that. I don't know what market you are in or how desperate the dealer is to get rid of 9-3s, but most Saab dealers on 9-3 SEs (especially the automatics) are selling them at invoice - the rebate. If you search the 9-3 boards you will see this topic further explained - even by some of our board members that are dealers. I hope that helps!
