How to get illumination to work on aftermarket stereo?\ Posted by Robin [Email] (#2944) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Robin) on Fri, 28 Jun 2002 02:13:38 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Well, I've decided to make it a project to see how to install an XM Satellite system in my 2001 9-3SE Convertible. The first step is to install an aftermarket head unit. I chose the Sony CDX-MP70, which has XM controls and will play CD's and CD's burned with MP3's.
I got everything wired up tonight (the key is to use a Volkswagon/Audi wire harness!) except for the connection to the amp and door subwoofers (that's the next project)... And everything seems to work _except_ for control of illumination.
Now on Richard's SAAB Audio page it indicates that pin E of the bottom connector is the illumination control. But in my OEM unit (which is made by Clarion, fyi) pin E is marked NC (no contact).
I know there must be some control over illumination since the whole display system has the 'blackout' feature, but i can't figure out how to trigger it.
Any advice?
Thanks!
