Hi.
I'm New to this BB, so please accept apologies if I am repeating. I am the proud new owner of a 99 9.3. Loving every minute of the driving experience so far. The car has 28k on it, and I am expecting to hit 30k sometime this autumn. My old car ['64 Ford Falcon] has taught me how economical and gratifying doing my own mechanic work can be, and I look forward to seeing some of the workings of the saab.
My question is, how much of the recommended 30k service can I do myself, and do I need to have my work inspected by a saab certified tech for warranty purposes?
I have to take my car to the dealer for warranty stuff, but there is an independent saab mechanic in town who I trust and respect more [maybe because I dont have to deal with all the staff to talk to the guy who's got his hands all over my car]. He is the guy I would rather give my money to. Not the dealer. Would the dealer accept his service/inspection if it became a warranty issue?
Also, are there special tools for saab and where can I find some (apart from the 6point driver set)? I am still working with an early american automotive perspective, and realize I may be signing on for some more complicated work, but feel up to it.
Any advice will be appreciated. I have looked for 'deans_list', and am not really finding methodological instruction, but the info I am finding within threads is greatly helpful. Oil and filters and plugs and all that. This is a great resource, and I thank those of you out there contributing to make it convenient and informative.
Thanks
Nate Weathington
