K&N filter cross reference

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
filter cross reference < search keyword string.. I hope
Background: year 2000+ production has two different air boxes and filters. There does not seem to be any info about which one you could predicably have.
You need the number from the air filter, not the air box part number. (You probably got the body or lid parnumber, not the parnumber for the assembly.)
I found this post from a long time ago
""The OEM # for my '00 was 4876074. The K&N 33-2165 fit perfectly <snip>""
Searching for the above number yielded this from an email from K&N:
""If your OEM filter is part# 4876074, use our part# 33-2165 with an msrp of $60.33. If the OEM filter is part# 4236030, use part# 33-2166 with an msrp of $60.33 as well.""
The search function on this BB does not work properly with an <&> in the string, so searches for K&N don't work.
For 1994 through 1999 production the filter part number is 33-2663.

according to K & N and local auto parts stores the correct K & N filter for OEM # 4236030 is 33-2166. Ok, folks with a 99 9-3 convertible what part number did you get??
