In the spanish mag "autopista" when they test the car they put it in the test bench to see the power of the car. In Saabs the majority of times they offer about 15-20hp more and the most important 20-50mkg more of torque. For example the 2000 9-5 Aero offers 242hp and 420NM of torque at 3000revs.

In this case the saab 9-3 has 20hp more... but the performance are wors't than the last 9-3 in his 2.0T 185hp version. the acceleration are good and similar to the last saab but overtaking the saab are worst. for example the 9-3 hatch with 185hp in 80-120 in 4th needs only 7s and the new saab needs 8,6s.

It could be that this unit has few km, only 1058km.

I see in the photos that this unit... and others that another mags test in spain hasn't the butterfly cup holder. I read that this units are pre-serie units and has some differences in the interior, and also in the quality. In this test it says this unit has some "bad quality details" fit and finish details in the interior, it could be this is a pre-serie unit as I say. for example the unit arrive at my saab dealer has fitted out one of the door mouldings.

You can see for the moment... the test and you can download a adobe acrobat with all the performance, accel, braking, consumption, power, torque relationship power/wheight.... it's one of the most complete performance table I ever seen.

About the car... it says it has a good road quality and stability but in bad roads loose some comfort.

In other tests... for example the 1.8t vector 150hp tested in Motor16 it says the same, only in very bad roads the vector version loose a little comfort, but has a very good ride quality and it's better than a audi A4 or a lexus IS 200.

Another mag that tested the 9-3 is Autohebdo sport had a comparison test; 9-3 2.0t ARC, bmw320i,A4 2.4 and volvo s60 2.4.

In this comparison test the final points win the Saab, it says the saab has de sportier chassis and road quality of the grup with the bmw, only the bmw has a little more sportier feeling because is a rear wheel drive, but in performance and other things the saab wins. Imagine if they compare the saab vector....

In this link you can see a very good and complete test of the new 9-3 of 4car
