I hope RonV doesn't put so much oil on his filter that it drips... (j/k)
There are 2 sensors, because there are 2 catalytic converters. One sensor immediately upstream of each cat. It's like that on our '98 Accord & our '01 9³. Pretty much every car since about '98? Whatever gets to the first sensor 'maybe' can get altered by the first cat before it gets to the 2nd sensor.
The first cat is small & warms up much faster than the 2nd one. It's just there to handle the first minute(?) or two before the main cat warms up.
What seems strange is what's in K&N oil that would survive combustion? Does anybody know:
What's K&N oil really contain?
Are any of these materials detrimental to O2 sensors?
Why should this be any different than any other car since they started using O2 sensors (late '70s)?
