It sort of sounds like the BPC made a trvial difference. So look elsewhere.
The wastegate would be adusted real soft, but I can't see why anyone would be into that. If you go back to the mechanic, the wastegare should start to open around 6-7 PSI pressure. He should have a mighty vac or equiv.
Hose what hose? I spoke of several and the IC. There are 3 large pressurized turbo hoses and elbows that need to be looked at. And 8 large clamped joints, one large coupling sleeve, three short small hoses and 6 small clamps.
You need to test the BPV as well. Torn diapragm? Check its VAC line end to end! Remove the discharge hose and at idle apply and remove the vac line and detect if it opens and closes without getting your finger pinched in the valve seat. The valve needs to be oriented with its hose barb pointing to the battery.
There is quite a bit to look at.
